Our History

The Centre Dufferin New Horizons Club began in 1977 when a group of seniors under the direction of Mel Lloyd, Administrator of Dufferin Oaks, gathered to set up a club for active seniors.

The club was formed with the aid of a New Horizons grant and opened in October of 1977 in 3 rooms of Dufferin Oaks. With the building of the new Dufferin Oaks, the New Horizons Club moved to the Mel Lloyd Building adjacent to Dufferin Oaks.

The current facilities include a shuffle board room, a lounge and a kitchen. Regularly scheduled activities consist of a variety of card games, shuffleboard and an art club.

Since some of these activities are seasonal, please check their availability.

The Centre Dufferin New Horizons Club is a not for profit organization offering social, recreational and volunteer opportunities for older adults (55+) in Shelburne and surrounding area.

Where we are

We are located in the Mel Lloyd Centre through Door F at the rear of the building adjacent to Dufferin Oaks Home for Seniors at 167 Centre Street.  Our lounge and shuffleboard room are the location for many activities, including Euchre, Bridge, Shuffleboard and Art.

The lounge is available for rental when it is not being utilized by our seniors.
